A live-action series based on the immensely popular PlayStation game God of War is coming to Prime Video. ‘God of War’ will be available on Prime, but no premiere date has been set. The news comes as the follow-up to ‘God of War: Ragnarök‘, which was made available a month ago.

The show will follow Kratos, the God of War, as he moves from his bloody past in ancient Greece to the Norse realm of Midgard. In the wake of his wife’s passing, Kratos and his estranged son Atreus embark on a perilous journey to fulfill her dying wish of scattering her ashes from the highest peak. Meanwhile, Kratos’s relationship with his son is put to test as he is forced to fight a variety of new Gods and monsters on this adventure.
Amazon is likely to reap huge profits from the new “God of War” series.
Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios are producing the series, along with PlayStation Productions and Santa Monica Studio, the creators of the original video game franchise.
The adaptation will be showrun by Rafe Judkins, best known for developing fantasy book series “The Wheel of Time” for Prime Video. Besides them, other writers on the “God of War” series include Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who created the SyFy series “The Expanse” and co-wrote the screenplays for “Iron Man” and “Children of Men”. The three executive produce alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan for Playstation Productions, Cory Barlog and Yumi Yang for Santa Monica Studio, and Roy Lee for Vertigo. Jeff Ketcham co-executive produces for Santa Monica Studio. Meanwhile, PlayStation published a tweet stating that
“The ‘God of War’ is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling”.
