Control Review: A Fantastic-Looking Game

Control is an action-adventure video game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by 505 Games. It was released in August 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. From the overall aesthetic direction to the technical execution, Control is a fantastic-looking game overall, but combat is a clear standout. You couldn’t resist exploring the fascinatingly bizarre paranormal setting of Control.

I’ve greatly loved my journey through the shifting rooms of Oldest House thanks to a solid supporting cast, a strong script, and a tonne of intriguing breadcrumb trails. Even though the story is done, I’m still interested in learning everything I can about Control’s world despite the fact that Jesse’s personal story feels like an afterthought in comparison.

As Control’s plot goes Jesse Faden, the protagonist of Control, arrives at the Federal Bureau of Control’s New York headquarters, capping a 17-year search for the mysterious organization that abducted her brother Dylan when she was a young child.

However, except for Ahti, the Finnish caretaker who grants her entry with the apparent belief that she is coming for an interview as his assistant, the FBC appears to be deserted. One of my favorite aspects of Control, now that I’ve got room to breathe, is spending quality time with its collectible texts and videos.

I’ve managed to read most of the in-game materials while pushing through main missions and tackling optional pursuits, but there are so many fascinating threads to pull on that it’s easy to imagine new possibilities lying in wait; if only I studied the evidence a little closer, or considered a new angle, maybe the missing pieces of Jesse’s story would come into view.

These tidbits can be educational, disturbing, and at times wildly entertaining. Control was considered a standout game in the action-adventure genre. Overall, Control is a highly-regarded and well-reviewed game that has been praised for its unique setting, engaging storyline, and solid gameplay mechanics. If you enjoy action-adventure games with a focus on storytelling and atmosphere, Control is definitely worth checking out.
