Death Stranding was one of the most unique and innovative games of the last decade, blending open-world exploration, stealth, action, and social elements in a post-apocalyptic setting. The game was created by Hideo Kojima, the legendary director behind the Metal Gear Solid series, and featured a star-studded cast of actors such as Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lea Seydoux, and Guillermo del Toro.
Now, Kojima Productions has confirmed that a sequel is in development, titled Death Stranding 2 (working title). Kojima revealed the first trailer for the game at The Game Awards 2022. The trailer showed some familiar faces, such as Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile, as well as some new characters and locations. Such as the nature of the Death Stranding phenomenon, the fate of humanity, and the role of music in the world.

Release Date and Platforms of Death Stranding
As of now, there is no official release date for the game. Kojima Productions has not revealed how far along the development process is, but it is likely that the game will not come out before 2024 or 2025. Kojima himself said that he had written the story for the sequel before the Covid-19 pandemic, but then rewrote it after it started. He also said that he has another project in the works alongside Death Stranding 2, which is more experimental in nature.
The only confirmed platform for Death Stranding 2 is PS5. Great news is that the game will be powered by Decima, the proprietary game engine created by Guerrilla Games, which was also used for Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, and the original Death Stranding.
However, there is a possibility that Death Stranding 2 will also come to PC eventually. The first game was initially a PS4 exclusive, but later came to PC in 2020 with enhanced features and performance. Sony has been investing more in bringing its games to PC lately, such as Days Gone and Uncharted 4. Therefore, it is not unlikely that Death Stranding 2 will follow suit at some point after its PS5 launch.
