Microsoft is positive that GTA 6 will be released in 2024

The most recent revelations are more concrete, with Microsoft merely announcing that GTA 6 is anticipated to launch in 2024. While Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games did not slack on this one, it is to be expected that they will keep displaying official materials related to the latest open-world game.

This is the result of an investigation into the Activision-Blizzard Microsoft merger by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK’s regulatory body. A document that appears to also outline Microsoft’s expectations for the Grand Theft Auto 6 release was Microsoft’s response to the investigation. In essence, Microsoft cites Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty as examples of franchises that make up enough of the market share for them to hurt competition.

Page 24 of the document states: “The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024”. This information must be taken with a grain of salt, as at this point, Microsoft is simply vying for ways to prove that their latest acquisition will not foreclose any all competition within the industry. To that end, there is a good chance that this release window for GTA 6 is only Microsoft’s estimation.

Although it’s simple to doubt Rockstar Games’ claims, it’s entirely plausible that the two companies are already talking about the problem. The fact that Microsoft included it in its official launch statement may not have gone unnoticed by Rockstar, thus it’s possible that they will soon be updating fans with more information.

A twitter user Ben had pointed out that this is inaccurate.
