The Last of Us first came out in 2013. It’s an action-adventure game made by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment exclusively for PlayStation consoles. In the game, we play as Joel, a smuggler who is tasked with escorting a teenage girl named Ellie across the post-apocalyptic United States. Game is played as in third-person perspective and we get to use guns and other improvised weapons. We need to be sneaky sometimes too, because there’s hostile humans and creatures infected by a weird fungus that want to eat us.
A new version of The Last of Us came out for PlayStation 5 last September and now it’s available for Windows too since March 28, 2023. The game’s got some sweet upgrades, like better gameplay and controls, and the graphics and lighting effects are way improved. Plus, there’s new accessibility options to make it easier to play. If we’re playing on a PS5, we can experience 3D audio and the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which make it feel even more realistic.
Having big problems in PC Version
The PlayStation version of this game came out as smooth as butter, but the PC release got pushed back a bunch of times. When it finally came out, though, people were pretty bummed. Lots of fans who tried to play it on high-end computers are having big problems with it. Like, it keeps crashing and stuttering with bugs, and sometimes it won’t even launch at all. Some players are even saying it takes hours for the shaders to compile. That’s a major bummer!
So, people are already ripping this game apart on Steam. We’ve checked it out and, as of right now, only 38% of the over 10,000 reviews recommend the game. That’s a real blow! It’s actually the first time a Sony game has gotten a Mostly Negative rating on Steam. Usually when they bring PlayStation games to PC, everyone loves it and they get super high ratings. But not this time. Although some players find it funny at times, others are not happy with it.
Naughty Dog responded
There’s been a lot of noise about all the problems with the new version of The Last of Us. But Naughty Dog, the company that made the game, says they’re working on it. They’re looking into all the bugs and stuff that people are complaining about and they’re working on patches to fix everything up.
